Parbat, Dec 18 (RSS) : The Lower Modi Hydropower Project in Parbat district has started power generation after nine years of project inception.
Despite the target to complete the project in 60 months of its beginning, the 20 megawatts project took almost double the estimated time.
The project officials claimed that Gorkha Earthquake of 2015, India’s blockade on Nepal, labourers’ protest, damage in the equipment and disputes in land acquisition resulted in delayed accomplishment.
The power generated from the project is also linked to the national transmission grid. Electricity from the project is supplied to the national grid through the 132 KVA transmission line located at Patichaur in Parbat.
The project was expected to complete with the investment of Rs 3.60 billion but the cost increased with the increased timeline, Project Chief Pawan Kumar Yadav said.
With this, three hydropower projects have been brought into operation in the Modikhola while three other projects are in the making.
