Kathmandu, Dec 15 (RSS) : Road reaching to the project site of the Melamchi Drinking Water Project has been reopened as an effort to arrange water supply through a temporary structure.
In coordination with the local levels, the Melamchi drinking water development project has repaired the road that was obstructed due to massive flood and landslide in post-monsoon rains earlier this year.
According to the committee, the road was constructed so that necessary equipments are transported to the project site and vehicular movement resumes for the immediate need.
Committee’s information officer Rajendra Prasad Panta said the temporarily constructed road might be damaged by flood next year. The structure built recently is just to ensure flow of water on a temporary basis, he added.
There is risk of landslide from higher ground of the project site so a study is being carried out on it, he shared, adding the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the project funding agency, is undertaking the study to this effect.
