Government starts administering ‘booster’ dose to senior citizens



Kathmandu, Jan 29 (RSS) : The government has started administering booster dose vaccine against coronavirus to the senior citizens aged above 60 years.

Assistant Spokesperson of Ministry of Health and Population Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari shared that the ministry has begun inoculating booster dose to the senior citizen above 60 who have completed six months after receiving double doses against the coronavirus.

A ministerial meeting chaired by Health Minister Birodh Khatiwada on Friday decided to send a letter to the district health offices of all 77 districts to administer vaccination service.

The ministry is administering the inoculation service to the senior citizens based on the recent recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Strategic Advisory Group of Expert on Immunization and National Vaccination Advisory Committee.

The ministry has sent a letter to the district offices to administer Covishield or AstraZeneca vaccines to those who were already inoculated with full dose of Covishield or AstraZeneca or Moderna or Pfizer or Vero Cell and provide Covishield or AstreZeneca to those who have yet to get inoculated second dose.
