Kathmandu, Jan 15 (RSS) : Chairperson of CPN Maoist Centre Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has said the indigenous festivals are the symbol of unity in Nepali society. He believed that such festivals foster social amity and communal feeling.
Chairperson Prachanda said it while extending a message of best wishes on the occasion of the Maghe Sankranti or Makar Sankranti celebrated by various communities including Tharu and Magar people.
It is the cultural coexistence to have the same festival celebrated in different places by different communities in the country, he viewed.
Maghe Sankranti is observed with fanfare by the Tharu people as Maghi parva.
On this occasion, Chairperson Prachanda wished peace, prosperity and happiness to all Nepalis living in the country and abroad. He reminded that Nepal is a geographically and culturally rich country.
Such festival helps strengthen national unity and integrity, he stressed. The Chairperson however urged everyone to abide by health safety protocol while celebrating the festival in the wake of rapid spread of coronavirus in the country.
