NHRC asks minister to consider principle of human rights while making statement

Kathmandu, Feb 3 (RSS) : The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the people in position to consider the norms of human rights, social harmony, law and order while making their statements.

The rights body made such appeal by inviting Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Renu Kumari Yadav at the NHRC on Thursday.

The NHRC also asked Minister Yadav not to make any statement in the future that destabilise law and order in the society. In response, Minister Yadav made commitment not to repeat such statement adding that her expressions turned out to be uncontrolled and imbalanced in the condolence meet.

She, however, said that her statement despite being imbalanced were not prejudiced and targeted to anyone and were not aimed at provoking violence and confrontation. Minister Yadav’s statements made at a programme in Rautahat district some two weeks ago had drawn wide criticism.

On the occasion, NHRC Chairman Tapa Bahadur Magar urged not to make such provocative statements from the responsible person like minister that destabilise social harmony and promote violence.

He also directed Minister Yadav not to repeat such expression in the future adding that the political competition should be made fair and free of violence.
